This controller was design to take the burden off your main computer. It does this in the following ways:

Send the controller a command which tells it at what encoder wheel count you want the motor to stop at. Which way you want the motor to turn and at what PWM speed.

No further time is taken away from the main computer. The controller will keep track of the encoder wheel count and stop the motor at the given count. The controller can also monitor inputs and stop the motor if a bumper switch was hit.

The main computer can request the status of the controller inputs at any time. The controller will send back data telling the main computer what the encoder count is. What the average count was (in other words the average speed of the motors). This is a very important piece of information. If your motor slows down because the wheel is caught on something or maybe a child sits on your robot. The main computer can tell the controller to shut down the motors. The voltage on the ADC inputs and other items of information.

Motor Servo Controller System Chips

This is a modular system which can be expanded by just adding more controllers to the buss. Wire all five chips together to form one of the most advance controller on the market.

The motor, servo controller will work with any computer or device that has a serial port.

When wired together the motor, servo controller has:

Controller 1 Of The System

This is a modular system which can be expanded by just adding more controllers to the buss. Controller 1 will work with any computer or device that has a serial port. Comes with all the information you need to use it.

Has 3 ADC inputs to add devices like a IR range finder.

This low cost controller chip can decode the signals from a "VEX" receiver to control up to 8 motor's H-bridges and 1 driver. It can also receive commands from another microcontroller chip to control the motors. This controller chip uses 3 output pins to control a motor's H-Bridge. Two pins to control the motor's direction and one pin to control the motor's speed by using P.W.M.

For the people who don't know what a "VEX" is. It is a company that sells robotic parts and kits. They sell a "VEX" transmitter and receiver on their site for $129.99 but you can get a "VEX" transmitter and receiver for about $20 to $30 on "Ebay" and many other places.

This controller chip can control up to six servos. It can control them by receiving a command from another microcontroller. You can also radio control the servos thru a "Vex" receiver.
